A civil marriage is usually recognized by foreign countries, however we recommend that a verification is made with the authorities of the respective country. In some situations, an annex issued by the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs could be required. That requires that some of the documents might need to be translated. Which is another reason to plan everything with enough time in advance, and we strongly recommend you to plan at least 4 to 5 months prior to the wedding itself.

2. The Palace in Balchik

This is the former summer residence of the Romanian Queen Maria Alexandrina Victoria de Edinburg (1875 – 1938). Situated approximately 2 km south-west of Balchik in a beautiful locality between the Balchik rocks and the sea. The Palace is a designated archeological and constructional monument of culture. With a beautiful waterfall situated right next to thee terraces with a hight of 25meters. A smaller waterfall starts from “Allah’s garden” through a thick wall and into a deep stone pool.

It was constructed by the Italian architects Amerigo and Augustino in 1924. It is formed with beautiful terraces along the steep seashore, through which the water from two springs flows along special stone channels and pours into water mirrors and waterfalls. The park along the seashore was developed by the Swiss gardener Jules Gianni.

It also has a chapel named “The Assumption of Mary,” which was built in 1932. The renovated mills are nowadays used as a hotel basis for the complex.

Located on the Black Sea Coast in Balchik, the Lighthouse Golf Resort & Spa Hotel is part of a golf resort designed by Ian Woosnam who is a famous golf player.
